Big Pharma bias and inaccurate conclusions in vaccine research

The conclusions drawn in over 80 per cent of flu vaccine global research studies did not hold up to objective scrutiny, according to a report in the BMJ, March 2014. Huge inaccuracy levels like these rightly fuel serious skeptic concerns that flu vaccine benefits are often hyped.

The BMJ study, which looked at some 274 comparative studies on flu vaccination, found that only a mere 18 per cent of the studies were deemed to actually prove what the articles claimed to be their findings!

The better the quality of the study the more likely the study was to prove what was claimed.

1.The size of the study was not linked to accuracy of conclusions.

2.Nor were more citations. Actually they were linked to partial or complete industry funding. And then these are more likely to be found in more prestigious journals.

The BMJ report stated that, “Studies partly or completely sponsored by industry, however, were published in more prestigious journals and are probably cited more, although their methodological quality and size were similar. Some of these findings might help to explain the continuation of a near global policy, (to flu vaccination), despite growing doubts as to its scientific basis”.

While “70% of the studies reported conclusions favourable to the vaccines … only 18% showed complete concordance between data reported and study conclusions. Over half (56%) of studies were at high risk of bias, with only 4% being at low risk”.

Given that doctors and other healthcare professionals have little time and tend to ‘flick read’ little more than the top line conclusions, a figure of 18 per cent accuracy is cause for great concern. But worse, the appearance in ‘trustworthy’ prestigious publications is more to do with funding by interested companies than accuracy.

And worse still, many of the studies are then re-quoted, and/or used to substantiate others. It’s self-perpetuating medical mythology.

Tom Jefferson, lead author said, “The study shows that one of the levers for accessing prestigious journals is the financial size of your sponsor. Pharmaceutical sponsors order many reprints of studies supporting their products, often with in-house translations into many languages. They will also purchase publicity space on the journal. Many publishers openly advertise these services on their website.”

Polio Vaccine, Simian Monkey Virus and cancer links

Some 9 years ago CANCERactive covered several research studies from Japan on the higher incidence of Simian Monkey Virus (SV40) in people diagnosed with cancer.

The background to this is the Salk polio vaccine which, at the outset, used Simian Monkeys as the developing ground for the vaccine. Too late and after over 98 million vaccine doses had been prepared and over 30 million people had been inoculated, it was found that the Simian monkeys had a virus which was thus contained in the vaccine. The Salk vaccine then changed to use another animal source as its development host.

But. At the time we expressed great concern following the Japanese research revelations. One study looked at brain tumours where people who developed gliomas had much higher levels of SM40 than the population at large, and another study looked at cancers overall, with the same result. In 1961, the American National Institute of Health (NIH) stated that SV40 was ‘directly linked to causing tumor formation’.

It seems our fears were justified: The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently posted a fact sheet entitled Cancer, Simian Virus 40 and Polio Vaccine outlining the links between the virus and cancer. However, this was removed hastily as controversy flared in America – but too late. had already taken a copy of the damning report.

As you will see (original CDC page link and full archived page link: the SV40 virus, has been linked to causing a variety of human cancers, including childhood leukemia, lung cancer, bone cancer, and Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma.

The CDC denies a definitive causal link between SV40 and cancer but implies it was problematic in relation to cancer development. Problematic is some sort of euphemism.

“Like other polyomaviruses, SV40 is a DNA virus that has been found to cause tumors and cancer,” explains “SV40 is believed to suppress the transcriptional properties of the tumor-suppressing genes in humans through the SV40 Large T-antigen and SV40 Small T-antigen. Mutated genes may contribute to uncontrolled cellular proliferation, leading to cancer.”

Michele Carbone, Assistant Professor of Pathology at Loyola University in Chicago, has found that the virus is present in many cases of both osteosarcoma bone cancer and the increasingly prevalent lung cancer variety known as mesothelioma. As it turns out, Carbone identified SV40 in about one-third of all osteosarcoma cases studied, and in 40 percent of other bone cancers. The same was true for 60 percent of all cases of mesothelioma. Obviously this conflicts with the accepted view that all mesothelioma is caused by asbestos exposure.

“Many authorities now admit much, possibly most, of the world’s cancers came from the Salk and Sabin polio vaccines, and hepatitis B vaccines, produced in monkeys and chimps,” adds (

British Health System covers up vaccine dangers

If you live in America the official U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) “Immunization Schedules,” now recommends a staggering 29 vaccines be given between birth and 6 years of age, including yearly flu shots, as well as another 5 to 16 vaccines between ages 7 and 18 (

Now an investigative report compiled by Dr. Lucija Tomljenovic, Ph.D. focussing on the British Health System’s elaborate cover-up about its own national vaccination programme shows more than 30 years of hidden government documents suggesting these vaccine schedules as a complete hoax, not to mention the fraud of the vaccines themselves to provide any real protection against disease.

Her paper suggests that vaccination schedules are designed more for the purpose of serving corporate interests than public health. Government authorities, it turns out, in an ongoing bid to satisfy the private goals of the vaccine industry, have deliberately covered up pertinent information about the dangers and ineffectiveness of vaccines keeping it from parents in order to maintain a high rate of vaccination compliance. And in the process, they have put countless millions of children at risk of serious side effects and even death.

You can access Dr. Tomljenovic’s full paper here:

An ongoing study out of Germany comparing disease rates among vaccinated and unvaccinated children points to a pretty clear disparity between the two groups as far as illness rates are concerned. As reported by the group Health Freedom Alliance, children who have been vaccinated according to official government schedules are up to five times more likely to contract a preventable disease than children who developed their own immune systems naturally without vaccines.

Released as its own preliminary study back in September 2011, the survey includes data on 8,000 unvaccinated children whose overall disease rates were compared to disease rates among the general population, the vast majority of which has been vaccinated. And in every single disease category, unvaccinated children fared far better than vaccinated children in terms of both disease prevalence and severity. In other words, the evidence suggests that vaccines are neither effective nor safe.

No study of health outcomes of vaccinated people versus unvaccinated has ever been conducted in the U.S. by CDC or any other agency in the 50 years or more of an accelerating schedule of vaccinations (now over 50 doses of 14 vaccines given before kindergarten, 26 doses in the first year),” wrote Louis Rain back in 2011 for Health Freedom Alliance about the survey.

HPV vaccine linked to deaths

A 2012 study published in the journal Pharmaceutical Regulatory Affairs concludes that viral components contained in the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine Gardasil can cross the blood-brain barrier and trigger cerebral vasculitis, a severe form of blood vessel inflammation in the brain that can lead to severe autoimmune disorders and even death.

A postmortem assessment of two young girls from opposite ends of the world who died recently after being given the Gardasil vaccine revealed fragments of the HPV-16L1 antigen (which is added to both Gardasil from Merck & Co. and Cervarix from GlaxoSmithKline) inside the girls’ brain tissue. According to the researchers, these particles represent a genetic fingerprint of the Gardasil vaccine. Thus Gardasil may well cause serious, adverse events in at least some of the girls that receive it.

For their research, Dr. Chris Shaw from the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Canada and Dr. Lucija Tomljenovic from the Neural Dynamics Research Group in Vancouver examined samples of brain tissue taken from both girls, one 19 years old and the other 14 years old. Their analysis focused specifically on the potential presence of both HPV-16L1 and HPV-18L1, two specific antigens used in HPV vaccines.

Much to their surprise, the researchers observed that HPV-16L1 had bound itself to the walls of cerebral blood vessels in both of the girls’ brains. They also found inflammation and immune response to these particles. Clearly the viral components of Gardasil had crossed the blood-brain barrier and provoked a serious reaction.

“Our IHC (immunohistochemistry) analysis showed evidence of an autoimmune vasculitis potentially triggered by the cross-reactive HPV-16L1 antibodies binding to the wall of cerebral blood vessels in all examined brain samples,” says the study. “Our study suggests that HPV vaccines containing HPV-16L1 antigens pose an inherent risk for triggering potentially fatal autoimmune vasculopathies.”

According to the vaccine awareness group SaneVax, this is the first time a vaccine has been directly linked to a serious, adverse event. Gardasil to date has been linked to at least 27,485 adverse events, and at least 121 deaths.

“For the average medical consumer, this evidence suggests that the antibodies produced in response to vaccination with the HPV-16L1 may cause one’s immune system to attack its own blood vessels,” wrote Norma Erickson, President of SaneVax, in a recent announcement about the study. “Given that the autopsy in both cases revealed no major abnormality (anatomically, microbiologically or toxicologically) that might have been regarded as a potential cause of death, it appears plausible that the antigenic component of the HPV vaccine (HPV-16L1) was indeed responsible for the fatal inflammation of the blood vessels.” (;
